Back in June, Microsoft announced Windows collaboration displays, the first of which would come from companies like Sharp and Avocor. The following month at Microsoft Inspire, Avocor demoed its new display, and now the firm has announced availability.
The 65-inch display will arrive this December, and it will cost $6,995. There will also be other sizes that will be announced next year.
Avocor"s Windows collaboration display, the AVW-6555 - which just rolls off of the tongue - connects to a PC using a single USB Type-C cable. That cable supports a 4K display, 20-point multitouch, USB control, internet, and believe it or not, power.
“The new Windows collaboration displays by Avocor will make teamwork easier and more efficient by making it possible for people to extend their PC experience and applications like Microsoft PowerPoint, Teams and Whiteboard to a large interactive display that has been designed from the onset to be fully compatible and easy to use.” said Ruston Panabaker, Vice President IoT solutions, Microsoft. “We are thrilled that our customers will be able to start using Avocor’s innovative Windows collaboration displays later this year.”
These displays can be powered by any Windows 10 PC, so it won"t be running the special Windows 10 Team SKU that"s found on the Surface Hub. It"s possible that Microsoft could provide this functionality at a later date, but as it stands right now, these are teamwork displays for regular Windows 10 SKUs.
Avocor"s Windows collaboration displays are on display at Ignite 2018 in Orlando, and we"ll be sure to check them out. Make sure to check back in at Neowin for more news from the conference.
