Backwards compatibility with original Xbox games on track for end of 2017

During E3 2017, Microsoft finally took the veil off of its latest console, the Xbox One X. While this was undoubtedly the main attraction of the show, it was still quite a nice surprise when the firm announced that it would be adding original Xbox games to its Xbox One backward compatibility list.

At the time, Phil Spencer, who is the head of the Xbox brand, stated that the firm was working on adding support, but didn"t offer a timeline of when it would be available. Now, at the Brazil Game Show, Spencer has stated that things are "really close".

He further explained:

"I have a little dashboard I go to and I can see all the games [and] where they are in getting approvals in the pipeline. I know the games that are coming for the original Xbox but I don"t think we"ve announced them all. We have to do this in partnership with partners, but we"re still on track. I feel really good. The games look great."

While he didn"t give an exact date, Spencer is very confident that it will be out before the end of 2017. He even teased that there will be some things that have yet to be revealed, especially when it comes to how the games will work on the Xbox One X.
