Behold, the $5,500 Windows 10 coffee table

Computers built into tables are nothing new. In 2014, for example, 3M and Ideum teamed up to create a 46-inch Android table for $6,950 - and of course, the original Microsoft Surface (which was later renamed PixelSense) was famously mocked for being a "big-ass table".

Given that Windows 10 is such a versatile OS - capable of running on desktops, notebooks, tablets, 2-in-1s, micro-PCs, smart TVs, Internet of Things devices, the Xbox One, HoloLens, and more - it was perhaps inevitable that it would also make the jump to the coffee table form factor. Indeed, if you"ve got €4,997 EUR (around $5,500 USD) to spare, you can buy one today.

French company Kineti has launched "La Table Kineti", a coffee table fashioned from wood and aluminum with a Full HD (1920x1080px) display built into the surface, supporting up to 12 touchpoints, and protected by "unbreakable" glass.

As you would expect, the table is waterproof, which is just as well, given that it has a PC built into it with an Intel Core i5 processor, Intel HD 6000 graphics, 8GB of RAM, a 120GB SSD, and a single USB 3.0 port, along with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.

In addition to... well, being a coffee table, Kineti says that it can also be used to "control your home and connected devices", and that you can "enjoy the magic of a single gesture to share all your table contents to your tv". The company has added its own custom software to the device to enable these tasks, which you can see in the video below:

€5,000 is hardly a trivial amount to spend, but as WindowsArea.de notes, it"s less than half the price of the more business-focused Kapsch Interactive 40 table-PC, which costs €12,000 (around $13,300).
