Best Buy stores will have the NES Classic Edition in stock on December 20

The NES Classic Edition has been one of the hottest items throughout this holiday season, selling out within minutes whenever a retailer gets it in stock. Unless you want to pay well over the suggested retail price of $59.99 on a third-party site like eBay, you need to be quick on your feet.

The official retailers for the console are Amazon, Best Buy, Gamestop, Target, and Walmart, but don"t plan on easily finding it at any of those places. You might, however, be able to grab one from a Best Buy store on December 20.

Oscar Muñoz tweeted that he had received an email from Best Buy two days ago that said that the NES Classic would be back in stock "tomorrow, December 20". Of course, at the time, "tomorrow" was December 8.

The company sent out another email shortly thereafter, saying that the email was a mistake, but the item would, in fact, be in stock on the 20th. It also says that "quantities will be limited and will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis".

Note that initial quantities of the device at launch were low, with some stores reporting that they got less than a dozen units. There"s no telling whether this new stock will be more or less than that. It"s also unknown is the Best Buy online store will be offering the device on that day, so if you want one, you might want to wait on line at your local Best Buy when it opens on the 20th.
