Game developer Human Head Studios recently announced that it will be closing shop for good. Rune and Prey fans can rejoice, however, as Bethesda Softworks has acquired Human Head and is going to relocate the entire development team to a brand new studio in Madison, Wisconsin. The latest addition to Bethesda has been christened with the name "Roundhouse Studios".
In the blog post announcing the closure and subsequent relaunch, author Katherine Stull of Human Head commented on the studio"s rebirth:
"This is an incredible opportunity for our small but industrious clan of developers to embark on a new chapter of game development as members of the Bethesda family. With their support and resources, we look forward to creating great game experiences for many years to come."
The 22-year-old gaming studio responsible for the creation of the classically loved Rune series has been operating since 1997. Over the years, Human Head Studios has established a decent portfolio, frequently partnering up with other game makers to work on projects. Apart from Rune and Prey, one of its more notable collaborations includes The Quiet Man, a cinematic action game developed in partnership with Square Enix.
Human head"s latest and final game, Rune II, hit the Epic Games Store very recently on November 12, 2019. Now that the studio has been scrapped, the game"s future is pretty unsure and it is unclear whether we will be seeing a console release or not.
