Last year, Bethesda officially announced the next chapter in the Elder Scrolls series and Starfield, the first new franchise by the company in over 25 years. However, fans hoping for more information at E3 this year might be disappointed to find out that we won"t be seeing either of the games at the event.
"Before everyone asks, please be patient," Todd Howard said in a recent Bethesda PAX East stream. "It’s going to be a long time. It’s not something we are going to be talking about at E3, either of those games, this year."
The studio"s recent video celebrating 25 years of The Elder Scrolls gave a tiny preview of the photogrammetry technology that will be used in future Bethesda games. Howard said during the stream that this was a "little sneak at the technology that we"ve been building." He added that we will get to see this photogrammetry tech in Starfield first, and that "a second version of it" will be used in The Elder Scrolls VI.
These comments fall in line with what the studio has revealed in the past, both of these next-gen games are still in very early development.
In an interesting development, however, Bethesda also revealed that the YouTuber Shirley "Skyrim Grandma" Curry will be a character in The Elder Scrolls VI, responding to an almost 50,000 signatures strong fan petition.
Bethesda"s E3 2019 presentation will kick off on Sunday, June 9, and although Starfield and The Elder Scrolls VI won"t be making it, the company has at least confirmed that Doom Eternal will be there.
