Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer join FWD.us immigration reform group

A few weeks ago, a new political action group called FWD.us was announced with some help from Facebook founder and CEO, Mark Zuckerberg. Today, the group has announced that it has added the top people at Microsoft to join in its efforts to initiate immigration reform in the US.

The FWS.us website now lists Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates as a founding member of the group. The website also shows Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer and the company"s General Counsel and Executive Vice President Brad Smith are listed as "Major Contributors." In a statement sent to AlThingsD.com, Joe Green, president of FWD.us, said he was "thrilled" that the three Microsoft executives had officially joined their organization.

Microsoft has been trying for some time to get the U.S. government to change their immigration laws so that the company can hire qualified people from overseas to work at the company and fill a large number of open positions. FWD.us says that in addition to immigration law changes, it also wants to help improve education in the U.S. so that the country can "produce more graduates in the science, technology and math fields."

Other major tech company leaders that are official supporters of FWD.us include Netflix CEO Reed Hastings, Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer, and Google Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt.
