Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates has been making the TV news rounds today to promote the just released 2014 annual letter from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. However, Bloomberg TV decided to ask him some Microsoft-themed questions when Gates appeared on the cable network.
As he has done many times before, Gates did not indicate any chance he will return to working at Microsoft full time when asked that question today. He stated, "My full-time work will be with the foundation for the rest of my life." He did say he will "help out part time" with Microsoft. Indeed, he has already stated that he will be very involved with helping whomever is selected as the company"s new CEO.
Gates told the interviewer there was nothing new to say in terms of Microsoft"s board finding a new leader for the company. However, when asked if he or the board had any sense of urgency in selecting its next CEO, Gates added, "Yeah, you always feel that way, but then again you want to pick the best person. They"ll move at the right pace." The latest rumor on that search indicated that the board won"t make a decision until the end of January at the earliest.
