Bing adds Foursquare support for searches

Microsoft has been extremely busy adding new features to its Bing search service in the past few months. That includes a revamp of its homepage, adding Facebook support to its search results, and a new look for its image searches tool. Today, Microsoft had added yet another new social networking feature to Bing.

In a post on the official Bing blog, Microsoft announced that Bing now includes tips and recommendations from Foursquare. Those results can be seen in the sidebar column, located on the right side of the Bing.com page. Microsoft"s Swati Gharse offers an example of how the Foursquare integration will work:

Later this week, I’m meeting some friends at a new restaurant. To learn more, I search on Bing for “Foreign Cinema”, the name of the restaurant. In addition to photos from my friends and reviews from bloggers, I now see public tips from foursquare users in the ‘People Who Know’ section in the sidebar.

The recommendations will be different depending on where your location is. In other words, if you are looking for a good Subway location in Charlotte, you won"t get Foursquare recommendations from Greenville. The Foursquare support will be rolled out for US users of Bing. So far, there"s no word when the added Foursquare support will be included for Bing users in other countries.
