Bing search share climbs, Google and Yahoo slip in the US

The latest Comscore results are in and Bing managed to gain slightly on both Google and Yahoo (via SearchEngineLand.com). While not a significant gain, Bing climbed from 14.8% to 15%, Yahoo fell from 15.2% to 15.1% and Google kept its commanding lead but was down slightly from 65.6% to 65.4%.

Even though Yahoo and Microsoft have a search agreement, Bing is still gaining on Yahoo and has nearly surpassed the site that once dominated the landscape.

For Microsoft, any gain is a big win as they are clearly the underdog in the search market as they fight for relevance against Google. But, having now touched 15% of the search market, it is clear that Bing is a viable alternative to Google and that a significant quantity of users do use Bing for their searching needs.

Microsoft has been aggressively rolling out new features and marketing for its search platform. With integration into Xbox and Windows Phone, Microsoft has a direct path to the consumers through its other retail products. New devices such as the Lumia 800 and Lumia 710 are surely going to help Microsoft expand its Bing user base which will help them grow even further in the search market segment.
