Microsoft made a decision when it launched the Bing search site to make its home page different than other similar sites. It choose to put in a different high resolution image on that page every day, and as a result, the site gets a new look every 24 hours.
Today, Microsoft announced that it has made a new partnership that will result in even more of these kinds of great photos to appear on the Bing site. The partnership is with 500px, a huge online community of over 2.5 million photographers that store millions of images on the 500px website.
You can see an example of this new program at work today on the main Bing page, which shows a photo taken from the top of the tallest building in the world, Burj Khalifa, in Dubai. The homepage has an information link that takes users to another page on Bing that lets people learn more about the photographer behind the picture, Alisdair Miller, along with a link to his 500px profile.
Microsoft says it will continue to select images from the library of the 500px photo community to spotlight on the Bing website. The financial terms of this new partnership were not disclosed.
