Over the past few weeks, Microsoft has very quietly released beta versions of its Bing Travel, Bing Food and Drink and Bing Health and Fitness Windows 8 apps for the Windows Phone OS. Today, the company finally took the "beta" label from those apps and also released some new versions of the Bing News, Weather, Sports and Finance apps for Windows Phone.
The biggest change for the older Bing apps is that users can sync data with their Windows 8 counterparts. The official Bing blog states:
In the Finance app for example, when you setup your stock watch list on Windows 8, it will show up the same way on the Windows Phone. And it works the same way if you set it up on your phone – so no matter where you start, you don’t have to set it up all over again, changes and updates work the same way.
In addition to the syncing, three of the older Bing Windows Phone apps has been updated with new features. The Finance app now has a "My Finance" selection, designed for users to keep track of their brokerage accounts and a home mortgage calculator has also been added. The Bing News app has added the New York Times and Wall Street Journal to its sources and the Sports app now has live event coverage for several leagues, player profiles and more.
