Bitpay updates its Copay wallet, now lets you buy Amazon.com gift cards

Bitpay has done a tremendous amount of work to make Bitcoin more user-friendly, albeit if its efforts have largely been focused in the United States. In its latest update to its Copay wallet, it is allowing US users to buy gift cards from Amazon.com in penny increments between $1.00 and $500.00.

Buying an Amazon gift card with your bitcoins will allow you to buy millions of items at Amazon.com and other affiliated websites. The gift cards will never expire and are stored in the Copay app. One downside is that gift cards are not backed up with your bitcoin wallet backups so it"s recommended that you take a screenshot, or write down the card number.

The Copay wallet is available for most platforms including iOS, Google Play, Windows Store, Chrome, Mac OS, Windows, and Linux. It offers prices in 150 currencies, has multi-language support, supports HD wallet backups and makes payments easy to watch with a convenient payment proposal flow.

Earlier this year, Bitpay introduced a Visa card which converted your stored bitcoins into US dollars instantaneously, allowing you to use it like any other payment card. Additionally, the company teamed up with Valve to bring bitcoin payments to its gaming platform, Steam.
