BlackBerry is apparently not going to take it anymore when it comes to Internet leaks of its products. Today, company CEO John Chen said that BlackBerry is "pursuing legal action" against an unnamed person who posted information about one of its future product to the public.
In a blog post, Chen didn"t go into too many details, but he did state that the person who leaked the info "falsely posed as an employee of one of our carrier partners to obtain access to secured networks." He did admit that BlackBerry"s actions to counter these kinds of leaks may result in fewer rumors about the company being posted on tech websites, but added, "rest assured that we’re committed to communicating our biggest updates to you early and often – when they are ready to be shared."
Some people have already speculated that the product mentioned in Chen"s blog post is a ROM of the upcoming BlackBerry 10.3 OS that found its way onto the Internet a few days ago. That leak revealed, among other things, an upcoming rival to Apple"s Siri in the digital assistant arena.
This announcement from BlackBerry comes a week after the FBI arrested a former Microsoft employee, charging him with leaking code for Windows 8 and other products to a blogger in 2012.
