The BlackBerry KEY2 made its debut last month and while it has quite a few improvements over its predecessor, many raised an eyebrow when it came to its $649 price tag. While it has yet to be confirmed, it looks like BlackBerry might have anticipated the price issue and readied a cheaper version of the handset.
The new leak comes courtesy of Evan Blass and shows off a handset known as the KEY2 Lite. Now, there isn"t much information accompanying the photo, but Blass does state that the handset will supposedly have the same form factor as the KEY2 and will arrive in three colors: red, blue and copper.
While nothing has been confirmed, the "Lite" moniker could indicate that the upcoming handset might come with some inferior specifications to its KEY2 counterpart or that maybe some material changes will be made in order to keep the cost down. If this is the case, those who were originally interested in the KEY2, but were turned off because of the price, might have an option.
For now, we will just have to wait and see what BlackBerry has up its sleeve. Perhaps, the rumored handset will make its debut at IFA Berlin in a little over a month.
