BlackBerry OS 6 beta available to download for some devices

Download Squad is reporting that RIM has posted a beta download of BlackBerry OS 6. Currently, the beta will only work with the BlackBerry Bold 9700, Bold 9780, or Curve 3G 9300 and T-Mobile customers, and you can head on over to the Beta Zone and download OS 6 for the device if you"re willing to give it a whirl.

The 9780 already ships with OS 6, but the beta version will add new features and tweaks that weren"t included in the shipped version. OS 6 introduces universal search, so you can find stuff on your phone and online just by typing from the home screen. There’s also an upgraded WebKit browser, and a revamped homescreen.

Blackberry is known for its rock solid platforms and its unrivaled email support. It is used in big businesses across the world but has recently begun moving into the consumer market. Among other features on the device, BB OS 6 will finally bring a new webkit browser to replace the archaic blackberry browser.
