Game developer Gearbox Software brought its massively popular title Borderlands 3 to the PAX Digital Showcase this year. At the gaming exhibition, Gearbox revealed that the shooter RPG will be making its way to Sony and Microsoft"s next-gen consoles. As usual, those who already own the game on the PS4 and Xbox One will be upgraded to the PS5 or Xbox Series X/S versions for free.
Other information about the next-gen version of the action-adventure video game was also disclosed. Fans of the title will be happy to know that Borderlands 3 will support 4K at 60fps for the single-player mode. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S variant will also have three and four-player split-screen modes and a vertical split-screen feature in the two-player co-op mode. Current-gen players are also set to receive the two-player vertical split-screen feature which will be rolled out via a game update.
Gearbox also detailed some new continuity options. Once current-gen owners upgrade to the next-gen version, all their game saves and DLCs will be transferred over. Players will be able to pick up right where they left off on their PS4 or Xbox One consoles. There was also talk of cross-play coming to Borderland 3 sometime next year.
Lastly, a brand new paid DLC was also announced and it is scheduled to arrive towards the end of this year. It will add a new Skill Tree to Vault Hunters and a new pet option for FLK4 called Hyperion Loaderbot was detailed. Gearbox also introduced a new Trapper Skill Tree which focuses on shields and survivability and a new Action Skill for FL4K.
