Bozoma Saint John, who for just a little over a year led Uber"s branding efforts under mounting global scrutiny, has now left the company to join the entertainment conglomerate, Endeavor, as its chief marketing officer.
This is a possible outcome of shuffling of executive positions in Uber by CEO Dara Khosrowshahi after he took over leadership of the company from Travis Kalanick.
Said Endeavor CEO Ariel Emanuel in a statement,
"Boz’s strong creative vision has the power to create cultural moments that are transformative for brands. We’re excited for what it means when her vision comes face-to-face with our client roster and portfolio of brands who are shaping the cultural conversation around the world everyday."
Endeavor is a massive entertainment conglomerate that"s behind the UFC, William Morris Endeavor and IMG, among others.
Dara Khosrowshahi said to TechCrunch in an emailed statement,
"I want to thank Boz for her contributions over the last year. Boz joined Uber at a time when the company was hurting—but her energy, optimism and creativity have been a key part of our ongoing turnaround. Endeavor is lucky to have her, and I’m excited to watch her work in her new role.”
Prior to her work at Uber, Saint John was an executive at Beats Electronics, upon the purchase of which she became the head of Apple"s global consumer marketing division for Apple Music and iTunes, wherein she left to lead the cab-hailing company to better days as part of its rebranding efforts after its struggles with various world governments and the general public in June last year. Even before this, she was part of PepsiCo"s marketing team, so there can hardly be any question of her experience and renown in this field.
