Breaking down Microsoft's HoloLens

Microsoft"s HoloLens is an exciting piece of technology that has and will continue to change the landscape when it comes to augmented reality. While we had some details of the HoloLens" specifications, Microsoft really didn"t reveal all of the parts that make up the whole. With the recent delivery of the Developer Edition units, we now have a complete picture of what powers HoloLens.

The folks over at Windows Central have shed light on the internals of HoloLens by loading AIDA64 Mobile to the unit.

According to AIDA64 Mobile, the unit is powered by:

  • Windows 10.0.11802.1033 (32-bit)
  • Intel Atom x5-Z8100 1.04 GHz
  • Custom HoloLens graphics
  • 114 MB of dedicated video memory / 980 MB shared system memory
  • 2GB RAM
  • 64GB storage with 54.09GB available
  • 16,500 mWh battery

While none of the above specifications are really jaw dropping, there is without doubt that the custom HoloLens graphics is pulling a lot of the weight when it comes to the heavy lifting.

For those that are interested, you can currently apply to order the Developer Edition from Microsoft for $3,000 USD.
