Back in February, Microsoft opened up registrations for its Build 2017 developer conference, which will kick off in about three weeks. The company has started to reveal some of the things we can expect to see at Build.
In a post from the Windows Developer blog, the announcement dropped that this year"s conference will feature the first-ever edition of the Windows Developer Awards. This is a way in which the software giant wants to thank folks who have "built exciting UWP apps in the last year and published them in the Windows Store", and helped with feedback on the Windows Platform Backlog.
There are four categories in which you can vote:
- App Creator of the Year - given out in recognition of an app / developer that uses the latest Windows 10 capabilities, such as Ink, Dial and Cortana.
- Game Creator of the Year - given to a first-time publisher in the Windows Store, and a developer whose game was "innovative, engaging and magical".
- Reality Mixer of the Year - award for those who leverage the mixed reality capabilities of the Windows platform, combining the real and digital world in creative ways.
- Core Maker of the Year - recognizes the efforts of a developer who went beyond the traditional software interface of the operating system, and managed to "integrate Windows in drones, PIs, gardens, and robots to get stuff done".
Along with the four, there is also the Ninja Cat of the Year award, whose winner is picked out by the Windows team. The choice "celebrates the developer or experience that we believe most reflects what Windows is all about, empowering people of action to do great things".
You can sign up with your Microsoft account, and start casting votes on the Windows Developer Awards site. Be quick though, as voting ends April 27.
