The development team at Bungie is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year as a game company and it has some big plans for its fans starting on June 23 and ending on "Bungie Day" on July 7. In a post on the official Bungie web site it lists seven things that the creators of the hit Halo Xbox 360 shooter series will do for its fans during that time period.
One of those things is "we"re going to tell you, in explicit detail, exactly what Bungie Aerospace is all about." Bungie Aerospace is a mysterious trademark that Bungie has filed for. It has also filed for what it is calling the Bungie Aerospace Corporation, a for profit business. Bungie has remained silent about what all of this is all about but it appears that silence will be broken soon.
Other aspects of Bungie"s 20th anniversary celebration will include putting rare pieces of Halo artwork up for auction with the proceeds donated to charity. It will also sell some exclusive limited edition "swag" (t-shirts, posters and other stuff) on the Bungie store as well. There will also be a Halo Reach multiplayer marathon where if an outside team beats Bungie"s team by 20 kills or more that team will be sent some steak. Real meaty steak.
Bungie released its final game in the Halo series, Halo Reach, last fall for Microsoft. It is now working on an all original game franchise for publisher Activision. Microsoft is continuing the Halo series on its own with Halo 4 which will be released in late 2012.
