Back in July, Microsoft announced the most affordable addition to its Windows Phone range ever, the Lumia 530. With a suggested retail price of just €85 EUR / $115 USD, the 530 is the company"s new entry-level device, slotting in below the slightly larger Lumia 630.
For those in the United Arab Emirates, the Lumia 530 is about to get a lot more affordable, albeit briefly, as Microsoft has revealed plans for a special promotion this Thursday, September 25. On that day only, buyers will be able to pick up a Lumia 530 for 410 AED (just over $110 USD), and get a second 530 free, effectively bringing the price of the two Windows Phones down to just $55 each.
For a brand new device, designed around Windows Phone 8.1, that"s a pretty sweet deal. The promotion will be available only in selected stores across the UAE, beginning at 5:30pm on Thursday, and it will continue until stocks are depleted.
Key specs of the Lumia 530 include:
- 4-inch FWVGA (854x480px) LCD
- Quad-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 200
- 512MB RAM
- 4GB storage (plus microSD support up to 128GB)
- 5MP fixed-focus rear camera
- 1430mAh battery
- 119.7 x 62.3 x 11.7mm; 129g
We"ll be delivering our verdict on the new low-cost Windows Phone in our in-depth long-term review soon, but in the meantime, be sure to check out our first impressions of the Lumia 530.
