A new listing on the ratings website PEGI has made the surprising announcement that Call of Duty will be making its way to Xbox Live Arcade and Playstation Network. It is unclear at this time if the game will be a remake of the 2003 classic PC/Mac shooter or a new addition to the series entirely.
Nokia mobile users will also have a new game to look forward to, with a listing for a Call of Duty strategy game.
Also revealed today making its way to Xbox 360 and PS3 is the classic first person shooter, Wolfenstein 3D. The game was also released earlier this week on the Apple App Store for both iPhone and iPod Touch. Wolfenstein 3D was originally released for MS-DOS back in 1992 and has been ported 11 times to other platforms. Arriving on XBLA and PSN will mark the 12th milestone.
No further announcements have been made regarding price or release dates for either game; however both series are set to release titles on the major platforms later this year.
Just last night Infinity Ward announced the release date of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 at the Developer Choice Awards. The game is set to release on November 10, 2009. ID Software is also working on a new Wolfenstein game, set to release on July 28, 2009 for consoles and PC.
