Recently, Activision released a new trailer for Call of Duty: Vanguard. The game is a first-person multiplayer shooter that"s set during World War II. However, this time around you have to take down a Nazi commander who wants to bring about the Fourth Reich.
Speaking during New York Comic Con, Call of Duty: Vanguard writer Sam Maggs provided more details about future plans for the sub-franchise and creating memorable characters. Maggs said the following. Important parts of the panel were transcribed by VGC.
We came into this process saying, "How do we make the iconic COD characters?", because you don"t really have that in Call of Duty right now. You know when you think about a game like Halo, you think of Master Chief, but when you think of COD there"s not really those standout characters ... "Who could be our flagship COD characters?" ... We want to make Vanguard 2 and Vanguard 3, because we have two more stories that we want to tell with these characters ... figureheads for this era of COD.
Depending on how well Call of Duty: Vanguard does, the sequels may be greenlit. The trailer seems to indicate a tense story with soldiers who have their own demons to wrestle with. Maybe these new characters will be as memorable as Halo"s Master Chief, but only time will tell. Call of Duty definitely needs memorable heroes, that"s for sure!
Call of Duty: Vanguard is expected to launch on November 5, 2021, starting at $59.99. You can purchase the game through the Microsoft Store or the platform of your choice, like PlayStation or PC. When pre-ordering, there are a number of editions to choose from that give you access to post-launch content and much more.
