The 150-player battle royale experience Activision and Infinity Ward announced yesterday, Call of Duty: Warzone, is now available across all platforms. The game is completely free to play and new players can jump in straight away after downloading the approximately 100GB of files needed for it.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare owners should see the Classified tab updated to Warzone as well, letting them simply launch into the new mode following an update only around 20GB in size.
Warzone drops players into Verdansk, a massive map that has both new zones to fight in as well as remade areas of classic Infinity Ward maps. The game actually provides two game modes to play, the regular last-squad-standing Battle Royale - playable in solos, duos, or trios - along with Plunder. This new mode has players collecting cash across by the map by looting, killing enemies, and completing contracts, and the squad with the most cash at the end of a round is the winner.
Warzone implements some interesting new elements to spice up the usual battle royale affair. The most intriguing is perhaps the Gulag, a separate area where players are taken after their first death to fight one versus one against other dead players. Winning a battle means redeploying back into the battle royale session. Head over here to get a rundown of all the new features of Warzone straight from the developer.
Warzone can now be downloaded on PC via Battle.net, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 for free.
