At the end of the countdown teaser Capcom began a few days ago dropped two announcements from the Japanese publisher, revealing the next chapter in Street Fighter saga and a surprise collection of older fighting games featuring enhancements like rollback netcode.
Street Fighter 6 only received a tiny teaser trailer today, seen below, but it seems like the footage is recorded in-engine. In it, an older Ryu is seen squaring off against Luke Sullivan, a DLC fighter introduced in Street Fighter V.
Unfortunately for fighting game fans, no more details about the project were revealed today, though Bayonetta 2 director and designer Yusuke Hashimoto is attached to the project. We will have to wait until the summer before any gameplay is shared.
Capcom is yet to even reveal platforms or a launch window for Street Fighter 6. The previous entry, Street Fighter 5, was only ever released on PC and PlayStation 5, so there is a chance Sony may have secured console exclusivity rights once again for the new game, leaving out Xbox fans.
The second unveiling was for Capcom Fighting Collection, an upcoming bundle containing 10 retro fighting titles with online multiplayer support (Ranked, Casual, and Custom online matches) featuring the ever-popular rollback netcode.
Here are the games that come with the collection:
- Darkstalkers: The Night Warriors
- Night Warriors: Darkstalkers’ Revenge
- Vampire Savior: The Lord of Vampire
- Vampire Hunter 2: Darkstalkers’ Revenge (First official release in North America)
- Vampire Savior 2: The Lord of Vampire (First official release in North America)
- Red Earth (First release outside of arcades)
- Cyberbots: Fullmetal Madness
- Super Gem Fighter Mini Mix
- Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo
- Hyper Street Fighter II
Capcom has also included accessibility changes like filters for photosensitivity, hidden character unlocks that do not need special codes, and small balance changes. Over 400 music tracks, official concept art, design documents, and more come with the collection too.
The Capcom Fighting Collection is headed to PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch on June 24.
