Fans of a more cartoony art style in games are about to get a nice little treat by way of Norwegian developer Rain Games, makers of the massively successful indie title Teslagrad that sold 1.6 million units worldwide.
World to the West is a 3D action adventure game billed as a standalone follow-up to Teslagrad, meaning it"s set in the same universe. Both new and familiar faces will greet you on your journey through "corrupt colonies, lush jungles and frozen tundras", as you take control of four unique characters, all with individual abilities and intertwining storylines.
To escape an ancient prophecy, you roam the land by controlling either Lumina the Teslamancer, Knaus the orphan, Miss Teri the mind bender, or the "gloriously mustachioed strongman," Lord Clonington. Use head-on combat or stealth to make your way through the game, and uncover "secrets, more secrets and secrets inside secrets".
The game is headed for release on PC (Windows, Mac, and Linux), Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Wii U on May 5. The PC versions, both physical and digital, are priced at $19.99, while console editions come in at $24.99 and $29.99 for digital and physical versions, respectively.
The game is also available to pre-order DRM-free on GOG, which comes with a copy of Teslagrad, as well as the soundtrack in MP3 and FLAC formats, free of charge.

Update: We have reached out to the developer regarding Way to the West"s availability on the Nintendo Switch, and got the following statement:
At this moment we are not working on a Switch port, but everybody on the team are Nintendo lovers :). So we would like to do it in the future, if sales go well.
It"s an interesting choice, but it does make sense for Rain Games to dedicate resources to the platforms they"re committed to first, while leaving other options open.
