Gwent, the full-fledged collectible card game that spawned out of The Witcher 3"s popular mini-game, is being prepped for mobile platforms, as CD Projekt RED today confirmed upcoming iOS and Android variants of the game.
The free-to-play title is slated for iPhones later this year, however, the Android version"s details are being kept under wraps for now. Saying the studio had been working on making Gwent mobile for some time now, game director Jason Slama went on to add the following regarding the new platforms in the announcement:
"Beautiful visuals aside, we’ve tailored much of our technology, including GOG Galaxy which powers GWENT’s multiplayer, to support mobile devices. I think our vision for bringing GWENT to smartphones combines the best we have to offer both in terms of graphics and gameplay. I can’t wait to share more details on the subject with you later this year.”
Although fans might be waiting a while before getting more details on those versions, the current platforms - PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 - will be receiving Gwent"s first expansion tomorrow, March 28. Crimson Curse is slated to add over 100 more cards to the title, while also boasting five new leaders as well as new abilities, mechanics, and more.
