CES 2012 marked the last time that Microsoft will have an official presence at the electronics trade show, at least in the near future. CES 2013 will be held in early January in Las Vegas without an exhibit on the show floor from Microsoft, nor will the company offer up a keynote speech during the event.
That doesn"t mean Microsoft"s spirit won"t be at CES 2013. The show"s organizers, the Consumer Electronics Association, announced a few days ago that the show will still have 20,000 products on display. According to News.com, the CEA is predicting there will be "a heck of a lot of Windows 8 hardware" among those gadgets.
Not surprisingly, the CEA is also predicting that the show will have a ton of new smartphones and tablets either announced or demonstrated at the show. Overall, the organizers state that about 150,000 attendees will be inside the Las Vegas Convention Center during the event. In 2012, the CEA said about 153,000 people came to the show.
Even with Microsoft"s departure, there will still be 3,000 exhibitors at CES 2013, coming from 150 different countries. However, it has to be said that there will be a definite void at this year"s event without Microsoft (officially) around.
