After the much-talked about hack of infidelity website Ashley Madison, which led to the release of more than 30 million pieces of user data, Noel Biderman, the CEO of its parent company Avid Life Media, has resigned. A press release was posted on the company"s website this morning, stating:
Effective today, Noel Biderman, in mutual agreement with the company, is stepping down as Chief Executive Officer of Avid Life Media Inc. (ALM) and is no longer with the company. Until the appointment of a new CEO, the company will be led by the existing senior management team.
This change is in the best interest of the company and allows us to continue to provide support to our members and dedicated employees. We are steadfast in our commitment to our customer base.
Aside from the user data, the hackers, who identify themselves as "Impact Team," have also leaked internal company data, which contained some of Biderman"s emails. A message came with the release, which said "Hey Noel, you can admit it"s real now."
Avid Life Media is currently offering a $500,000 reward to anyone who can identify the culprits behind the said attacks. The company says it is cooperating with law enforcement agencies, in an effort to "bring those responsible for the theft of proprietary member and business information to justice."
