CES 2017: LG's booth has super-thin TVs, robots, a tunnel of 4K TVs, and more

CES 2017 is coming to a close today, so it"s time to show off some highlights of the show. One of those was LG"s booth, where there was everything from a tunnel of 4K TVs, to robots, to levitating speakers.

When first entering the massive booth, to the left is the LG tunnel. When you walk in, you"re surrounded by a series of curved, 55-inch 4K TVs. It"s an immersive experience, and I wished I had a 360-degree camera to record it with; instead, you"ll just have to settle for standard imaging.

But that"s just the first experience at the booth. Next is a new 4K HDR OLED TV, which the company says is the width of four credit cards. Announced at CES, you can actually buy it right now from Best Buy. The 65-inch TV isn"t cheap though, coming in at $7,999.99.

There are also the new Nano Cell TVs, which were also announced at the event. We"ve all had an experience where multiple people are watching a TV and those off to the sides have trouble seeing it. LG claims to solve that with Nano Cell technology.

From the front, the top and bottom displays look the same, but the difference from an angle is obvious. You can check out more of this in the video at the end of this article.

And then there"s the robots. That"s right, LG announced a series of robots at CES 2017, one of which is sort of like a Roomba which would vacuum your home, but it"s meant to cut your lawn (the company announced one that vacuums too). In the video below, someone from LG shows off some of the smaller robots for Neowin.

As noted, they include Alexa integration, which was a common theme at CES. Hopefully, these robots won"t rise up against the human race anytime soon.

Next up is the company"s Levitating Portable Bluetooth Speaker, which was one of my favorite things at the booth for one simple reason: when I asked what the benefits of a levitating speaker were, or why LG would make the effort to build such a thing, I was met with responses such as "because we can", "because it"s cool", and "well why not?"

It hovers over the base using electromagnets, and once the battery begins to die, it comes down. The bases charges it though, so it will continue to work, and eventually it will levitate again.

There were also some new mid-range phones, such as the Stylo 3, Stylo 3 Plus, and some K-series devices. I won"t go too deeply into these, because they certainly weren"t among the most exciting things at the booth.

Finally, we have a number of smart appliances. There were two smart fridges on display, one running webOS and one running Windows 10. The webOS model includes Alexa, while the Windows variant naturally uses Cortana.

It was a bit crowded to get up-close photos of them, but I was able to get close for the video, where I take a walk around the LG booth to bring you on a bit of a guided tour.
