South Park is a satirical TV series that is known for its edgy humor and politically-apt commentary. Created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone back in 1997, the show has achieved considerable popularity among its intended audience.
In fact, Ubisoft even published a game dubbed South Park: The Stick of Truth back in 2014, to critical acclaim. The sequel, South Park: The Fractured But Whole is slated for a release later this year, after facing numerous delays.
Now, Eurogamer has discovered a rather interesting (controversial?) gameplay element in the upcoming game. According to a gameplay video, increasing the difficulty level in South Park: The Fractured But Whole will darken the skin tone of your character. As such, the easiest difficulty level features a white character, while the "very difficult" level sports a black one.
However, as the game"s character, Eric Cartman casually notes: "Don"t worry, this doesn"t affect combat. Just every other aspect of your whole life."

Seeing that racism is a rather prevalent issue in many parts of the world, it seems only natural that the developers behind South Park would opt to highlight the problem by using the skin tone as a difficulty slider.
South Park: The Fractured But Whole will be making its way to the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and the PC on October 17, 2017. A spinoff game for smartphones is also expected, but it has no firm release date as of yet.
