Today, at gamescom, Paradox Interactive and Colossal Order announced the next big expansion to the blockbuster Cities: Skylines. The developer recently launched its Concerts mini-expansion, which allows the player to host live events for citizens, among other similar features. The new add-on, simply named Green Cities, will bring a multitude of new asset additions - 350 to be exact - to advance your city"s sustainability.
The new expansion will give you the ability to take your city into the future with new buildings - including organic stores - electric vehicles, and eco-friendly services designed to make pollution a thing of the past. Fresh specializations will allow you to keep certain types of buildings, people, and services located in specific zones, preventing the possibility of a dirty commercial building popping up next to an upmarket apartment.
According to its press release, the full list of new features and additions to the game are:
- Story to Story, Building to Building, Street to Street: New eco-friendly buildings, New specialization buildings, new alternative service buildings, new unique buildings, electric cars, new parks -- 350 new assets in all giving a unique new look to Cities: Skylines
- I Wish I Was Special, You’re So Very Special: New specialized options for all city zones, plus leveled-up specializations for the first time in Cities: Skylines
- So What So What So What’s the Scenario: New scenarios, New policy options, and a new Monument to make your friends Green with envy
- Why Do Birds Suddenly Appear More Stylish: Of course we’ve included a flower-crown hat for Chirper.
Scheduled for launch later this year, the expansion will be available on Windows PC, macOS, and Linux for $12.99. As usual, Paradox noted that there will be an update to the base game which will add several new assets such as electric vehicles, road modding tools, and a lot of new beautification options.
