Codemasters today announced that one of its popular racing series that has been quiet for a while is returning later this year with a brand new entry. Simply named GRID, even though it"s the fourth entry, the title will see launches across PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 on September 13.
The game will take players to four continents as they race across 12 race locations, featuring circuits and streets well known to racing fans. As for who is this game targeted towards, GRID"s game director Chris Smith said that the racer"s handling will appeal to both casual and simulation enthusiasts:
“The game offers so much variety and depth, from the number of modern and classic cars through to the locations and race options. Renowned for its handling, the game will appeal to all types of player, from casual drivers who want a lean-in challenge, to sim drivers who want some serious fun."
There will also be a new damage system which will affect cars" handling and performance as they get beat up while racing. In an interesting addition, if a player bumps a little too much into an AI vehicle during a race, that car can "emerge as a nemesis" to get its revenge.
In addition to the usual Standard Edition, Codemasters is also offering a GRID Ultimate Edition for pre-order that lets its owners get into the game three days earlier - September 10 - than regular players, and also comes with access to three upcoming seasons of content, among other bonuses.
