Coolpad Defiant is a budget handset with Android 7.0 coming to T-Mobile

Not everyone requires the latest and greatest when it comes to handsets but sometimes it"s nice to have at least some of the added benefits of something new. That"s where Coolpad"s Defiant with Android 7.0 comes into play.

If you"ve never heard of Coolpad, you probably aren"t alone. The firm"s roots start in China and they have been involved in mobile technology for over a decade. More recently, it has made efforts to expand to other regions and LeEco even acquired a controlling stake in the firm late last year.

According to some new information, it looks like a new lower-end handset might make its way to the T-Mobile.

The Coolpad Defiant is a rather simple looking handset that offers:

  • 5-inch 854×480 resolution display
  • 1.4GHz quad-core processor
  • Adreno 308 GPU
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8GB storage
  • 5MP rear camera with a 2MP front-facing camera
  • 2,450 mAh battery
  • Android 7.0 Nougat

While the specifications aren"t mind blowing, the price should be relatively affordable. Currently, T-Mobile offers the Coolpad Catalyst with similar specifications for around $100 USD. If the Defiant is its replacement, we can expect the handset to land in around the same price range.
