Back at last year"s Computex, Corsair showed off the Zeus concept mouse that offered wireless charging. And now, six months later, the concept has become a reality, with the company announcing a range of new wireless peripherals at CES that include the new Dark Core RGB mouse, the MM1000 charging mousepad, and the K63 mechanical keyboard.
The company offers two versions of the Dark Core RGB wireless mouse, one with Qi charging and one without. The Qi charging enabled "SE" version pairs up with the MM1000 charging mousepad to provide the wireless charging experience.
Unlike Logitech"s proprietary PowerPlay wireless charging system, where compatible mice will charge anywhere on the mousepad, Corsair is using the Qi charging standard with a dedicated charging spot on the corner of the MM1000 pad. This means that any other Qi compatible device will also be able to make use of the mousepad"s charging capabilities. Beyond that, the pad comes with USB Micro-B, Type-C, and Lightning Qi charging adapters if you want to top-up a device without Qi compatibility.
Aside from the wireless charging, the features present on the two Dark Core RGB variants are virtually identical. The mouse comes with a whopping 16,000 DPI optical sensor, nine programmable buttons, and 24 hours of battery life. It also includes two interchangeable magnetic side grips, and, if the name hasn"t already given it away, customizable RGB lighting.
The K63 mechanical keyboard is the next member of Corsair"s new wireless family. According to the company, the keyboard will have an impressive 75 hours of battery life, with it sporting CHERRY MX Red mechanical keyswitches. It also comes with most of the bells and whistles you can expect from a gaming keyboard, such as customizable LED backlighting, macro support, programmable keys, and even 128-bit AES encryption to fend off anyone trying to monitor the wireless signals.
What is missing is the numeric keypad, which Corsair has opted to chop off so the keyboard can slot into the new K63 Lapboard that the company is offering.
Both the new mouse and the keyboard offer three options for connecting to your PC, namely a wireless 2.4GHz connection, Bluetooth, or via a good old cable.
As for pricing, the Dark Core RGB mouse will set you back $79.99, with the Qi-enabled SE edition costing $89.99, but you will have to fork over an additional $79.99 for the MM1000 charging mouse pad. Meanwhile, the K63 keyboard comes in at $109.99, while its Lapboard costs $79.99. The keyboard and lapboard are available for purchase now, with the mouse and charging mouse pad slated to be available sometime later this month.
