Cortana gets romantic for Valentine's Day (but it's me she really loves)

Microsoft"s digital personal assistant, Cortana, is one of the most impressive products to emerge from the company in recent years, going beyond rigid and awkward voice commands and offering a good deal more than just the ability to start a phone call by shouting at your handset.

From making recommendations based on your tastes and requirements, to speaking Klingon, ordering pizza and predicting the future, Cortana has a wide range of talents - and with the ability to get snarky, and even tell a joke or two, she"s got something of a personality as well.

And with love in the air this week, Cortana is ready to open her digital heart to a bit of romance. On Valentine"s Day, February 14, you may well find that she"s in a playful mood, especially if you say one of these phrases to her:

  • Hello, Cortana
  • Good morning
  • Happy Valentine"s Day!
  • Sing me a song for Valentine
  • Who is your Valentine?

...and you may also want to try: "Will you be my Valentine?"

But while Cortana may well whisper sweet nothings to you on the big day, and tell you all those lovely words you want to hear, it"s all an illusion - it"s actually me that she loves, and she even sent me a card to prove it, asking me to be her Valentine.

Her UK PR team confirmed today that it"s official - she only has eyes for me!

Still, you never know - you may yet be able to win Cortana over on the day. Be sure to chat to her on Valentine"s Day, and you might just win her heart (or, at the very least, get her to sing you a song). Let us know how you get on in the comments below!
