Microsoft"s digital "personal assistant", Cortana, has picked up all sorts of new features since first making an appearance in Windows Phone 8.1 last year. Now deeply integrated into Windows 10 - as well as being available in preview form on Android, and as a limited beta on iOS - more features continue to be added on a regular basis.
As WMPU reports, the latest new addition has come to Cortana"s Notebook, the list of editable interests and settings that keep the assistant informed on what matters most to each user.
Joining a list of options that includes news, local entertainment, restaurants, travel, reminders and more, Cortana can now keep track of academic interests too.
The new Academic options include "conference updates", "news updates", and "new papers", along with the ability to specify the particular "field of study" that you want the assistant to keep track of while you get on with other stuff.
Depending on how well it actually works, and how Microsoft continues to develop it in the future, the academic tracker could prove invaluable for students around the world. For now, it seems the new feature is continuing to roll out, as only a small number of users appears to have access to it so far.
