With Windows 10, Microsoft shipped a new personal digital assistant named Cortana and with help from Intel"s Smart Sound technology, she will be getting a new feature: the ability to turn on your PC. A demo, which you can see below, was shown off at Intel"s Developer Forum that is taking place this week in San Francisco.
The technology allows your PC, while in standby, to react to voice commands which means that with Windows 10, by saying "Hey Cortana, wake up my PC", your computer will turn on
Of course, privacy watchdogs will be quick to point out that this could mean your PC is listening to you at all times and could be tracking your conversations.
As with Cortana"s other capabilities, Microsoft will likely allow you to turn this function on and off, much like you can with "Hey Cortana" today.
Neither Microsoft or Intel would say when this feature is coming to the PC but it does depend on Smart Sound technology being built into the machine for this function to work.
