Ten days ago, Cricket Wireless began selling pre-owned Microsoft Lumia 650 handsets for just $0.99. That deal is long done, and you can get a brand-new 650 from the AT&T subsidiary for $49.99, but if you"re still looking for a newish Windows phone for less than the price of a pack of gum, you can now get the two-year-old Lumia 640.
The price of the "Certified Pre-Owned" device is $0.99 with activation. Of course, you"re not agreeing to any kind of a contract, so if you want to, you can opt to cancel the service right away. The phone itself will still be locked to Cricket though.
The Microsoft Lumia 640 comes with a quad-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 chipset, a 5-inch 720p IPS LCD, an 8MP rear camera with a flash, a 0.9MP front camera, 1GB RAM, 8GB of storage (expandable to 128GB), and it ships with Windows Phone 8.1. It"s eligible for an official upgrade to Windows 10 Mobile though, so users of the device are likely to see the Creators Update on April 25.
If you want to pick up the handset from Cricket, you can grab it here.
