During CD Projekt RED"s first Night City Wire episode today, the studio unveiled a couple of new trailers, an anime project, and a whole host of more details on its upcoming RPG Cyberpunk 2077. The new action-packed "The Gig" trailer is seen above, and it"s quite light on spoilers since all the footage is from the game"s prologue.
Following that trailer, the developer went into a lengthy showcase of Braindance, an investigation system present in the title that lets players live through experiences of various unique Night City inhabitants. Players are able to fly around using an actual "editor", using tools like fast forward and rewind to gather clues regarding mysterious deaths and other events. A surprise announcement also arrived during the stream, with CD Projekt RED revealing an original anime adaptation named Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. The studio is producing the 10-episode series, which will debut on Netflix in 2022. Edgerunners" animation is being handled by the Japan-based company Studio Trigger. Here are some of the well-known talent attached to the project:
Hiroyuki Imaishi (Gurren Lagann, Kill la Kill, Promare) will direct the series along with assistant director Masahiko Otsuka (Gurren Lagann, Promare), creative director Hiromi Wakabayashi (Kill la Kill), character designers Yoh Yoshinari (Little Witch Academia, BNA: Brand New Animal) and Yuto Kaneko (Little Witch Academia), and the adapted screenplay by Yoshiki Usa (SSSS.GRIDMAN, Promare) and Masahiko Otsuka (Gurren Lagann, Kill la Kill, Promare). The original score will be composed by Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill series).
Unfortunately, Cyberpunk 2077 got hit with another delay recently, pushing it out of September into a November 19, 2020 launch. The game was already delayed out of an April launch earlier this year.
Cyberpunk 2077 is initially heading to PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, with a Google Stadia version also in the works. The game will be playable on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 consoles at launch as well, with a next-gen upgraded version coming to the two consoles later, which will be free to current-gen console version owners. While you wait, don"t forget to grab the Cyberpunk 2077 goodies bundle available to claim from GOG until July 4.
