Cyberpunk 2077 finally released to the masses last week, but the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 experience has been less than stellar, with players reporting massive performance issues as well as a range of bugs plaguing the RPG. Today, developer CD Projekt RED issued an apology for not showing the game"s state on the previous-gen consoles before the game"s launch, and detailed the ways it will be resolving the issues.
The title will get its second bug fixing update across all platforms in the next seven days following the first round that appeared over the weekend. However, the developer plans to have a couple of major patches following the holiday break that will target the "most prominent problems gamers are facing on last-gen consoles."
Exact details regarding these patches will be revealed closer to their release, but they will land in January and February if current plans hold. "They won’t make the game on last-gen look like it’s running on a high-spec PC or next-gen console, but it will be closer to that experience than it is now," added the developer.
Moreover, anyone who is dissatisfied with the current experience on consoles is being extended refunds by CD Projekt RED. "We would appreciate it if you would give us a chance, but if you are not pleased with the game on your console and don’t want to wait for updates, you can opt to refund your copy," said the studio.

Digital copy owners are directed towards the refund systems of Xbox and PlayStation, while boxed version owners should try contacting either the store they bought the game from, or if that fails, directly pinging the studio at "helpmerefund@cdprojektred.com". This boxed edition special refund contact will remain open until December 21, 2020. Although not explicitly said, it certainly sounds like console version owners who ask for refunds will get one regardless of how much time they have spent in the game, at least for now.
While the blog post was primarily aimed at last-gen console owners, the studio also confirmed that the PC version will also get regular updates and fixes towards improving the game as well. CD Projekt RED is currently also developing a dedicated next-gen version of Cyberpunk 2077 for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, a multiplayer variant, as well as a next-gen edition of The Witcher 3.
