CD Projekt RED held a special episode of Night City Wire today dedicated towards Cyberpunk 2077"s console gameplay. The new showcase, seen below, has gameplay captured on Microsoft"s Xbox One X and the new Xbox Series X consoles. The studio didn"t mention the Xbox One S or the Xbox Series S.
The video switches between footage from the two consoles frequently as the player character first drives through Night City, then walks through various colorful interiors, and gets into a gunfight, among other interactions with NPCs. The showcase jumps between multiple quests and skips various elements to keep fans away from spoilers.
The Xbox One X footage does seem to display some framerate dips and has more asset pop-in compared to what"s being captured on the Xbox Series X. Since the game is only utilizing the extra horsepower of the new console through backward compatibility without any additional dedicated enhancements, for now, players probably won"t find any extra eye candy other than smoother frame rates and faster loading of levels and assets.
PlayStation owners aren"t being left behind to wonder about their performance either, as the developer plans to have a special episode for just for Sony consoles, but that will come at a later date.
Cyberpunk 2077 is now slated to land on December 10 for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Stadia. Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 players will be able to jump in using backward compatibility, but a dedicated enhanced version is planned to launch sometime in 2021, coming as a free upgrade to current owners. CD Projekt RED will be hosting the fifth, and possibly final, episode of Night City Wire on November 19.
