Cybersecurity is a growing concern for companies dealing with customer data around the globe. With the increasing number of cyberattacks, firms have been taking major steps to combat the threat, such as utilizing the power of artificial intelligence (AI) to detect attacks before they happen.
Now, it has been revealed that DailyMotion has been the target of a malicious attack, that has resulted in several user accounts being compromised.
ZDNet reports that video-sharing platform and YouTube competitor DailyMotion has been the target of a credential stuffing attack. Those well-versed in network security might know that this is a form of a brute force attack which involves the automated injection of usernames and passwords in order to gain access to user accounts.
While DailyMotion has not made an official announcement just yet, in emails sent out to its users, it has stated that the attack began on January 19, and that a "limited" number of accounts may have been breached. The company is logging off users that it believes to have been affected, and has also told users to reset their passwords.
Additionally, DailyMotion has reported this security breach to the French privacy watchdog, CNIL (Commission nationale de l"informatique et des libertés) in accordance with Europe"s GDPR laws. Although the company says that it has taken "all necessary steps" to combat the attack, the exact scale of the breach is unknown.
