Microsoft announced back in July that it will be bringing a dark mode option for OneDrive on the web. The firm has been adding the theming option on multiple platforms that the client is present in, such as on the Android and iOS apps, and more. The firm also previewed the feature in September during its Ignite conference, where it also announced other enhancements.
Now, the firm has announced through the Microsoft 365 Admin center (spotted by OnMSFT) that the feature will begin rolling out to business users in January, in line with the release timeline noted in the Microsoft 365 Roadmap listing. As is the case with such features, the rollout is expected to be staggered, meaning that only a few users will begin seeing the theming option initially, with more users gaining the feature through the weeks to follow. The feature should also start rolling out for users with personal Microsoft accounts, as promised by the company earlier this year.
The addition of dark mode on the web will be a welcome one for users that tend to use the web client frequently and prefer the darker UI, especially when working in dimly lit environments. The theme can be enabled right from the settings panel on the webpage when it becomes available. Additionally, guessing from the preview, the company might also be bringing more granular settings right to the settings pane, at least for business users.
