A remaster of the original Dark Souls was announced by Bandai Namco earlier this year, arriving with various improvements for PC and modern consoles later this year with a $39.99 price tag. However, some PC players will be able to pick up the challenging title for half-price.
Today, the publisher announced that the remaster"s PC version will be available with a 50% discount for all PC players that own Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition on Steam, incoming as a "loyalty discount reward." The original game"s launch on PC is well known for its rough edges, so this gesture should fly very well with the series" PC audience.
Beyond that, the announcement went on to say that the original Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition on Steam will be removed from the store on May 9, 2018. Note that this removal will not affect anyone who already owns the game, or purchases it before the deadline, with the game remaining playable afterward.
Dark Souls: Remastered is slated to launch on May 25 and is now available for pre-order on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on their respective online stores, while Nintendo Switch owners will have to wait some time longer to get their hands on it.
