The USG Ishimura is getting a new coat of paint next year, as EA and Motive today announced the Dead Space remake"s launch date today. The immensely popular classic horror title has been completely rebuilt using the Frostbite Engine, and it comes out on January 27.
Announced last year as a project being tackled by Motive Studios, Dead Space will take players back to face off against the terrifying Necromorph horrors as Isaac Clarke. While visuals, audio, controls, and more systems are being upgraded using modern day technologies of Frostbite, the studio has said Visceral Games" original storyline, atmosphere, and designs are being kept intact for a faithful experience.
“Developing this remake has been a lot of fun for us at Motive, as we’re true fans of the franchise and want to treat it with the respect it deserves. It’s been equally exciting to see players" reactions as we’re taking them on this development journey with us,” said Dead Space remake senior producer Phillippe Ducharme. "We can’t wait for players, both old and new, to see how we"ve elevated the original experience in the remake to be just as impactful for this generation."
The developer has been open regarding the project"s development, hosting several livestreams showcasing the current stage of development and responding to feedback. Currently, the remake is on track to hit the alpha stage soon, and the team is confident enough of the roadmap to confirm a launch date.
