The currently PlayStation 4 exclusive Kojima Productions title Death Stranding is headed towards a PC release later this year. However, a new delay has pushed back the highly-anticipated launch by several weeks, with the game now slated to release on July 14 instead of the original June 2 schedule that was announced last month.
As expected, the delay was needed to get back the lost development time caused by the COVID-19 outbreak. In the announcement made via Twitter, Kojima Productions explained the situation surrounding the setback:
"Following the temporary closure of KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS, we have had to delay the PC launch of DEATH STRANDING to July 14, 2020, to allow more development time amidst the current work-from-home orders in place. Thank you all for your patience and continued support!"
When the PC version finally lands, it will include ultra-wide monitor support, unlocked frame rates, quite possibly upgraded visuals, an expanded OST, digital excerpts from the official art book, and more features. Moreover, there is a cross-over happening with Valve"s Half-Life franchise, with in-game items like a wearable Headcrab and gravity gloves appearing.
Death Stranding pre-orders are available on both Steam and Epic Games Store for $59.99. Both stores are slated to receive the game simultaneously on the same July 14 date without any timed-exclusivity. The aforementioned Half-Life crossover content will be available across both stores as well.
