Will users of the iPhone and iPad soon be able to "like" all kinds of stuff? That"s a possibility if a new story at TechCrunch is correct. The report, which uses unnamed sources, claims that the upcoming iOS 6 mobile operating system will have deeper integration with Facebook. The official Facebook announcement is supposed to be made as part of Apple"s Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco in mid-June.
Exactly what kind of integration will be involved seems to still be a mystery, although TechCrunch speculates that Facebook authentication could be a possible addition. They also suggest that the integration could add a Facebook button to the iOS share screen. That addition would give users of iOS devices a way to share content with friends via their Facebook walls.
If Apple were to go through with this deal, we would like to see some kind of Facebook messaging integration with iOS similar to the experience provided by Microsoft with Windows Phone 7.5. Having a partnership with Facebook is likely important to Apple as many apps now require Facebook authentication in order to work.
The report adds that this deal is likely just for iOS. Facebook integration is not rumored to be making an appearance in Apple"s next desktop OS, code named Mountain Lion.
We"d like to hear which Facebook features you"d like to see integrated directly into iOS, let us know in the comments below.
