The Dell XPS 11 notebook-tablet hybrid is due out in November.
With Dell almost ready to become a private company again, the PC maker is announcing, and in some cases re-announcing, some new Windows 8.1 notebooks and tablets that are due out in the next few weeks. They include the Dell XPS 11, which was first revealed in June. The 2.5 pound notebook-tablet hybrid has a screen that folds around nearly 360 degrees so it can be used as a touchscreen-only device. The 11.6 screen itself has a display resolution of 2560x1440 and has a starting price of $999 and will be released in November.
Today"s Dell press release also reveals the XPS 13 notebook, with a 13.3 inch display and starting at just under three pounds. It"s due for release in November with the starting price of $999. The 4.44 pound XPS 15 notebook, with a 15.6 inch 3200x1800 display, will be released on October 18th with a price starting at $1,499.
Dell also announced two new Windows 8.1 tablets. One is the 8-inch Venue 8 Pro, which was revealed a few weeks ago. It has a Intel Bay Trail Atom processor, a 1280x800 display, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. It will come pre-loaded with Office 2013 Home and Student and is due out on October 18th for the price of $299.99.
The other Windows 8.1 tablet is the Venue 11 Pro, which has a 10.8 inch screen with a 1920x1080 display. Users can pick from either an Intel Bay Trail Atom chip or a Haswell Core i5 processor, and it supports up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. Users can also add one or more optional accessories, including a slim keyboard, a keyboard with an integrated battery and a desktop dock that adds more USB 3.0 ports along with dual display out ports. The tablet is due out in November for the starting price of $499.99.
Despite rumors to the contrary, Dell did not announced any new Windows RT products this week which again makes Microsoft the only company currently selling a tablet running the ARM-based OS.
